You do not need twenty questions. You need a few that a liar cannot autocomplete. Here is a bank that maps to real incidents, and the popular ones you can delete.
Judgement
- A member is spamming .gg links in general after a warn. Walk through the next ten minutes.
- Two members are arguing in DMs and one asks you to ban the other. What do you do, and what do you not do?
- A moderator you like keeps leaking ticket details in staff chat.
- Tickets are backed up and ping-mods is on fire. How do you triage?
- The owner is offline for a week and two admins disagree on a ban.
Integrity
- Have you been banned, blacklisted, or removed from staff anywhere? If yes, what happened?
- Would you share screenshots from staff chat or tickets? Never / only with senior staff / if it proves a point.
- A friend is in a ticket you are assigned. What do you do?
- You accidentally timeout the wrong person. What happens next?
Hours and presence
- Timezone.
- Typical hours you are on Discord in a normal week — weekdays vs weekend.
- How many hours a week can you actually give this? Use ranges (1–3, 4–7, 8–14, 15+), not “as many as needed.”
- Can you take a ping-on-duty shift (react within about 15 minutes)?
Experience without the resume padding
- Have you been staff in another Discord server? If yes: server, role, why you left.
- Someone we could message who has seen you staff (optional tag).
- What would you change about how this server is run? — useful for admin, noisy for trial mod.
Delete these
- Why do you want to be staff? Keep one sentence of intro if you must. It will not decide the hire.
- What does moderation mean to you?
- Rate your activity 1–10.
- Paste your entire ruleset back to us. If they are in the server, they can open #rules.
- Favourite colour, favourite anime, or other icebreakers that bloat a legal record.
Generate a full form with role, depth, and server size in the staff application generator, then trim anything that does not change a yes or no.
